Artwork details: 'Longing'
This artwork was created during Lockdown 1 and is about longing to run and see friends and loved ones, wondering when this will ever be possible. It’s 35cm high and is constructed from a papier mache/plaster/clay mixture on a wire and wood armature.

I trained as a sculptor, but my working practice is varied. I love to work with fused glass, but also use a variety of other materials to construct sculptures.

I also tend to make works on paper.  So, using whatever media and material I feel best suited to communicate my ideas.

'Louise (A little bit Rigo)' acrylic on paper, painting A3, mount 40cm x 50cm, unframed

I create both 2 and 3 dimensional pieces which oscillate between figurative and abstract, between the real and an imagined world.

'Searching' fused glass sculpture, 32cm, 21cm, 14cm

'Until This' mixed media sculpture, 45cm x 23cm x 22cm

During lockdowns and Tier restrictions, worry and anxiety seem to hang over everything like fog. Like everyone else, I miss the company of friends and loved ones and wonder when we might be together again.

But for us artists at least, there is always an upside.  Examining themes of unease, loss and longing has resulted in the creation of several new works.
