Art, like a barometer visibly lays before us the complexities of our innermost thoughts and emotions and is the means of reflecting changes in circumstances. Never fully predicting what will ultimately surface, one’s subconscious presents itself through the movements of the body in motion, creating marks upon the surface to become a barometer of a person at a precise moment in time.
By embracing the accidental and through specific choices of surface, media and scale Rogers creates bold, abstract work full of movement and varying levels of delicacy and power.
Originally making work in collaboration with The Met Office and The Royal Meteorological Society, Rogers created large 3 meter hangings interpreting data and the effects of weather. It soon became apparent that it was more than just the influence of weather that was driving these artworks and hence a journey into the self developed.
